What is the job description of a cerebral palsy caregiver?

Cerebral palsy is one type of disorder that creates impacts on a person’s movement, motor skills, and muscle tone as well. Basically, before birth, if the baby’s brain got damaged, then this type of problem may arise. They can suffer from speech problems, hearing problems, and learning problems as well. If you have cerebral palsy patient, then it’s always better to hire a caregiver for their assistance. Caregivers help them to assist their daily tasks successfully.  Every parent is not the same. Some have free time for their cerebral palsy patient but some don’t have much time. So, for them, the caregiver plays an important role.

If you are a caregiver, then your job includes such performance…

Assist personal hygiene jobs – Cerebal palsy patient have limited muscle and power as well. So, there are certain tasks like wash their face, brush, and bath, etc, they just unable to complete their own. To make them hygiene, the caregiver will help them for each task. 

Help to feed – This is another essential job function caregivers have done for their cerebral palsy patient. Their main responsibility will be helping them to drink and eat food. For CP kids, it’s quite tough to complete dinner or lunch their own. They need some assistance from caregivers because they have limited muscle power. Caregivers need to take care of their food details, how much they intake, how many times they intake all plays an important role. 

Need to do daily personal care – Yes, CP patient do not have the muscle power to wear clothes properly. So, its the responsibility of caregivers to help them to wear clothes properly. They will teach how to wear dress comfortably. Caregivers have to make a proper goal to make it realistic. Sometimes, they need to comb hair, helps them to dress properly and brush them, and help to wash their face as well. 

Monitor their movement – A CP patient don’t have any idea how to do daily jobs. You have to teach them every day and have to monitor patiently how they are acquiring their learning techniques. Sometimes, you have to concentrate on their every moment to understand how there are learning and what are the things they need to improve more. In this way, caregivers help CP patient to make their life independent. It is a lengthy process and it will take more time as well.
