Fun Activities for the Elderly

When one is retired, there is plenty of free time. This is a good time for the elderly to relax as well as try out some new things. As it is said, one is never too old to try out new things. Senior citizens can try out many activities that can be fun for them, and not too taxing for their age or health condition. Here are some fun activities for the elderly.

Gardening

Gardening activities can offer stimulation and exercise for many senior citizens. Coddling seedlings, babying new blooms and caring for flowers and plants can provide seniors with a great opportunity to enjoy time in the outdoor environment.

Playing instrument

Many people would like to play at least one musical instrument in their lifetime, and be an expert at it. Brain health can get a boost with playing some musical instrument. Violin, guitar etc are some of the popular choices. Playing harmonica can be another fun option. It is small in size, and can easily be carried in the pockets, ready to take out and play whenever one wishes. It can be a great travel companion during the morning walk, and one can play it while taking some rest.

Crossword puzzles

These have been around for a long time, and can provide elderly people with decent brain exercise. It can keep the mind sharp and alert, and make senior citizens remember things more easily. The more they can recall, the more they can share things with younger people and help them out.
