Can a spouse be the caregiver?
No. A spouse cannot serve as the paid Adult Foster Care caregiver for their spouse under Massachusetts program rules.
Another qualified adult who is at least age 18, lives in the home, is not the member’s court-appointed legal guardian, and satisfies all caregiver requirements may potentially be approved. The member must also satisfy the applicable MassHealth coverage and clinical requirements.
