Can an Adult Foster Care member stay home alone while the caregiver is at work or school?

Whether a member can safely remain home alone depends on the member’s assessed needs, required supervision, and individual plan of care.

The caregiver must ensure that the assistance and supervision required by the care plan are available. If the member requires continuous supervision or cannot safely be left alone, appropriate care arrangements must be made. Work, school, or time away from home cannot interfere with the caregiver’s approved responsibilities.
