Tara Araujo

With a degree in psychology and over a decade of experience in human services, Tara was ready to take on a leadership position with Mass Care Link. She was a vital part of founding and building the agency from the start.  She is an integral part in creating and carrying out the policies and procedures based on MassHealth regulations while educating, hiring, guiding, and supervising her team. Tara does like to remain in contact with members and caregivers, so she will do home visits as well. Meeting members in their homes allows Tara first hand insight to their needs. This helps her determine how Mass Care Link can be of the most help.

Mass Care Link provides support to caregivers and members including assisting those in need due to a language barrier. “Communication between all parties; members, caregivers, primary care physicians and our staff members must be strong. Some rely heavily on us to help navigate issues they may experience. Mass Care Link steps in to help translate advice from doctors, read prescription labels, express and understand health concerns between parties, as well as address concerns regarding payments.”

Tara enjoys the opportunity to help lead an organization that provides a vital resource to an often-underserved community. “Education and oversight from the nurses and care managers prove to help caregivers manage and understand members’ conditions,” she explains. Without that regular support she maintains, members may not receive sufficient home care. Caregivers may become easily overwhelmed with the demanding responsibility of caring for someone daily. Mass Care Link educates, supports, and provides financial assistance to the caregivers in an effort to empower them in their essential role.

“We want to help as many people as we can. We are here to help facilitate the process of those receiving assistance from people who love and care for them most; who will ultimately provide them the best support.

When growing the team at Mass Care Link, Tara ensures her colleagues share her motivation. “We seek people who have a passion to help others,” she explains. “They must truly desire and have an enthusiastic internal drive to help people. That’s what we’re in human services for. It must be for the right reasons if we want to do it right.”
