Our Story: Mass Care Link was born from generations of care and resilience.
Navigating a loved one’s health complications can be overwhelming—a struggle the founders know all too well.
Mass Care Link’s story begins with Maximino ‘Papi’ Gonzalez, an immigrant with big dreams who came to the United States in the 1970s. Maximino worked tirelessly to establish himself, provide for his family, and eventually start a successful business. With his work ethic, magnetic personality, and passion for people, he quickly became a cherished community member. Even in his later years as a retiree, he couldn’t stay idle for long, offering his time and expertise to local business owners.
Pillar of Community Leans on Others for Support
Eventually, Maximino’s health started deteriorating, which forced him to redirect his energy toward navigating the complex landscape of the U.S. healthcare and MassHealth home care system. Luckily, his family was there to show him the same loving care and support that he spent his life sharing with others.
But he quickly realized that home care providers require financial resources, good organization, and solid healthcare advice—a difficult balance to strike without the proper support. So, Maximino’s family took on this duty, eventually inspiring his third son to create a solution.
A Solution to Honor His Father’s Struggle
Watching Papi’s health struggle and the family dealing with the challenges of the MassHealth caregiver program sparked an idea. Our founder envisioned a supportive network that could help others facing similar issues. Committed to carrying Papi’s legacy of community support and compassion, he eventually founded Mass Care Link. Despite starting small, Mass Care Link has grown to help hundreds of individuals get access to the MassHealth caregiver benefits they need to thrive.
Our organization provides the training, benefits, and emotional support necessary to relieve the burden of home care for the community. With a dedicated team of nurses, case managers, and support staff, the Mass Care Link team is committed to helping families across Massachusetts create sustainable ecosystems of care for their loved ones.
